Nearly 500,000 people in France are living with visible or invisible after-effects of strokes. While the brain's spontaneous recovery mechanisms, linked to its plasticity, are established up to about a year after the stroke, they are unfortunately not always sufficient to allow for complete recovery. They must therefore be reinforced by rehabilitation time spent in Physical Medicine Rehabilitation (MPR) facilities, specialized centers operating in a multidisciplinary manner (physiotherapists, speech therapists, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists). The earlier and more intensive this comprehensive care is implemented, the better the long-term results will be.
