Although it has doubled in a century, average life expectancy is slowing down, and sometimes even reversing, due to health, economic, or social crises. Priority is now being given to a new target: healthy life expectancy.

While global life expectancy was around 32 years in 1900, it has more than doubled in just over a century, exceeding 71 years in 2021Thanks to vaccines, antibiotics (after World War II), and the global public health campaigns of the 20th century, life expectancy has increased so much, and it's something to dream about.
