For decades, psychiatry has had to contend with a lack of therapeutic innovation. But this era may be coming to an end. Several signs point to this. First, on the political front: the major national cause for 2026 will be the same as that of 2025—mental health. But also on the research front: while psychedelics are making a strong comeback, another, more discreet but promising avenue is generating increasing interest: psychobiotics.
