Transforming patients' lymphocytes—cells of the immune system—to target cancerous tumors is the principle of a cell therapy that has been developing considerably in recent years. These are called CAR-T cells. Their effectiveness had already been proven in previous research on leukemia, notably in 2019.
And more recently, it has been demonstrated on cancer cells in the brain. Indeed, last November, a publication in the journal Nature revealed astonishing results on brain tumors in children: neurological progress and a reduction in tumor size, or even his disappearance in one of the patients.
