Global health as a target? On his first day in office, January 20, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a halt to all U.S. foreign development assistance and the U.S. withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO). These words were immediately followed by action, including the near-total dismantling of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with 83 programs halted.
