A drunk woman walking early in the morning at the entrance to the highway was found and rescued by a police officer while she was returning from work.
According to police, on the 21st, a woman was walking unsteadily on the ramp towards Ilsan at Uijeongbu IC on the 1st Ring Road of the Uijeongbu Metropolitan Area, Gyeonggi Prefecture, around 1 a.m.
Police Officer Choi In-ho of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's 43rd Mobile Unit, who was on his way home at the time, witnessed this, stopped his car on the shoulder of the road, called 112, and approached the woman.
It was reported that the woman was so drunk that she was unable to control herself and hold a proper conversation. Officer Choi moved the woman to the shoulder of the road where no cars were driving, then handed her over to the North Gyeonggi Police Agency's traffic patrol unit that was dispatched.
A highway patrol official explained, "We rescued the woman who was going up the highway ramp and handed her over to her guardian," and added, "The situation was concluded as it was determined that she was simply drunk."
Officer Choi said, "I reported it because I thought it would be really dangerous because the woman was going inside the highway." He added, "I'm really happy that she returned home safely."
