Instacart and Partnership for a Healthier America Connect Families with More Than Five Million Servings of Fresh Food in Underserved Communities Across the Country, Announce New Good Food Cities

The joint commitment from Instacart and PHA was made as part of the 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.
The organizations also announced the results of the program's impact in cities.Good Food at Homethe most recent, as well as an extension that providesInstacart Health fundsFresh via Good Food at Home to over 1,000 families in three new cities:Chicago;New Orleans; AndWichita, Kansas.
End of 2023, Instacart and PHAhave launchedGood Food at Home atDenver;Englewood, New Jersey;Milwaukee; AndWashington, DCThe program has provided more than 1,100 families60$ per month in production creditsFresh Fundsfor three months, as well as an Instacart+ subscription with free delivery, allowing participants to buy fresh fruits and vegetables online.
Results from the four cities highlighted the program's continued success and positive impact on community health, and indicated that the Fresh Funds provided through Good Food at Homehave empowered disadvantaged communities, significantly increased fruit and vegetable consumption, and helped families adopt lasting healthy habits:
- 59 %of respondents said that theyate fruits and vegetables more often;
- 85 %said that Fresh Funds allowed themto buy more fruits and vegetables than they can usually afford;
- 87 %said Fresh Funds helped themto adopt a healthy habitby eating more fruits and vegetables;
- And86 %stated that Fresh Fundsallowed them to provide good foodto their families, giving them the dignity of choosing the items that best suit their unique preferences.
Program participants also reportedbe very satisfied with their experience with Instacart and many plan to continue shopping through Instacart:
- 88 %liked theconvenienceonline shopping;
- 87 %likedthe overall shopping experienceoffered on Instacart;
- 80 %declared thatOnline grocery shopping through Instacart saved them time;
- Online orders using SNAP benefits increased significantly (from $73 to $83)between before and after the program;
- Andmore than halfdeclared that they werelikely to continue shopping on Instacart because of the benefits the platform offers.
Due to positive feedback from participants and the impact on food and nutrition security, Instacart and PHA recently expanded the Good Food at Home program to three additional cities across the country, serving more than 550 families inChicago; 250 families inNew Orleans; and 250 families toWichita, KansasIn each city, Instacart and PHA will offer families60 $per month of Fresh Funds for three months to buy fresh produce from local grocers available on the Instacart marketplace. The program will also expand to other cities this fall.
