Most often caused by tobacco, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in France and worldwide. But it can be treated effectively, provided it is detected early enough. At an early stage, tumors are still operable, which significantly improves the prognosis. This observation led to the launch, in May, of the first national pilot screening program. named ImpulseDeveloped by the National Cancer Institute (INCa), it is coordinated by Professors Marie-Pierre Revel (AP-HP) and Sébastien Couraud (Hospices Civils de Lyon), and is part of the INCa's 2021-2031 cancer control strategyWith a major stake: depending on the models, hundreds, or even thousands, of lives could be saved each year.
