A new study reveals the mechanism of the headache felt during migraines, sometimes felt only on one side of the skull, as well as the link with the visual aura perceived at the start of the attack.

10% of the population suffers from migraines in the world. And yet, the mechanism of pain behind it was still very poorly understood. What is the link between the visual aura perceived by some and the appearance, later, of headache?

For the first time, a team has just discovered a new mechanism which explains why pain is felt with a delay and why it is often concentrated on only one side of the skull. These results, published in the journal Scientists are able to explain the origin of life and its evolution., give hope for new treatments for patients.
