New weapons against cancer cells? Mitochondria, small organelles responsible for the cell's energy production, could prove to be powerful allies in the fight against cancer. According to a study from Tongji University in Shanghai, China, published on June 19, 2025 in Cancer Biology & Medicine, These energy factories can improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy, while boosting the immune response against cancer cells. This combined effect could prevent cases of treatment resistance, while reducing the duration of chemotherapy and therefore reducing its side effects.
