Newman's Own, Inc. today unveiled the results of its Generosity Index, a unique social experiment that measured generosity across the country through a "Pay What You Want" pizza truck tour. The results revealed that residents of Los AngelesAndTaylor Swift fansKnown as Swifties, they are among the most generous people in the country. This initiative not only provided valuable insights into American generosity, but also reinforced the mission of Newman's Own, as $100,000 of the tour's proceeds were donated to help children facing adversity through the Newman's Own Foundation.

As the truck traveled to other major markets, it became clear that residents ofLos Angeleswere the first nationally in generosity, spending on average5,54 $per share. This unexpected result highlighted the city's strong sense of belonging and its willingness to contribute to causes that make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

In addition to geographic information, the tour provided data on consumer generosity related to their pop culture preferences. Among fans ofTaylor Swift,Olivia Rodrigoand BTS, Swifties emerged as the most generous, spending on average1$ more per share than the Livies. This result is consistent with theTaylor Swift's well-known charitable effortsand the dedication of his fans to giving back.

Sports rivalries also played a role in the generosity data. Yankees fans spent $46 billion more than Red Sox fans at Newman's Own pizza trucks parked outside games, while Red Sox fans spent $1.3 billion more than Red Sox fans at Newman's Own pizza trucks parked outside games, whileUniversity of Michiganwere 50 % more generous than the fans ofOhio Stateon average.

Interestingly, the data showed that age and disposable income had little impact on generosity. Baby boomers and Generation X paid roughly the same amount per share (3,34$/share), although Generation X has almost 50 % more disposable income. Similarly, Millennials and Generation Z gave2,75$ per share and2,61$ per share respectively, with Millennials having almost twice the disposable income of their Gen Z counterparts.
