Researchers from the University of Cambridge, in a review, summarize all the scientific evidence showing the beneficial effects of reading, particularly for the brain.

A pleasure that protects. While the PISA rankings starkly illuminate the decline in students' educational skills in France (and elsewhere), a review reminds us of the importance of reading. Researchers from the University of Cambridge compiled all available studies on the benefits of reading, and more specifically, reading for pleasure. Their review, published on September 15, 2026 in Psychological Medicine, places particular emphasis on the protective effects on health.
