In Marseille, a unique place in France, designed as an alternative to the hospital, will soon welcome around fifty children with cancer. Completely renovated, the Château des Sourires (Castle of Smiles) has just opened its doors after 18 months of work. With over 1,000 square meters and a five-hectare park, it presents itself as a place of resistance and respite to support young patients and their families at every stage of the illness, sometimes until the very end. "I hereby declare the Castle of Smiles open.", launched Grand Corps Malade at the end of September 2025 in Marseille, cutting the traditional ribbon held here by two children (see photo below). Behind the famous slam poet, a magnificent white stone bastide, a unique place in France, is preparing to welcome around fifty sick children, all suffering from cancer, in 1000 square meters just renovated after 18 months of work. Rehabilitation stays, pre-surgery preparation, convalescence, or even psychological support, physical and social re-adaptation: everything will be possible, each time tailored to individual needs., in this place designed as an alternative to the hospital.

Located in the 14the In the district of Marseille, this former property of the Ricard family (ex-Château Sainte-Marthe), nestled in the heart of a magnificent five-hectare park, is above all an unexpected and unexpected gift that has been given (yes, literally given, under a so-called emphyteutic lease for a period of 50 years) to the association " Smile at life“.
