The tragic story of Febby tricked into becoming an online gambling marketer in Cambodia
JAKARTA – A resident of Bekasi, Febby Febriadi (27 years old) admitted that he was deceived until he ended up working as a online gambling marketing specialist (Judol) in Cambodia. Because initially, he was promised a job in a hotel as a video editor.
Febby admitted that she got the job through a friend who had worked in Cambodia for three years. With the high salary on offer, he was interested in trying his luck in another country.
"At first, I was offered a job as a hotel editor, to make a kind of marketing video. Their salary was 15 million rupiah, and food was 300 dollars, or about 4 million rupiah," Febby said in Bekasi City, quoted on Saturday (19/04/2025).
She left for Cambodia in early April 2024. She admitted that the recruitment and application process was very easy, even the travel expenses to Cambodia were covered by the company where Febby worked.
Upon arriving in Cambodia, he initially felt happy to arrive at the hotel where he earned his living. However, the hotel is merely a front for an illegal website company.
Febby described the hotel where she works as having four floors. Each floor is filled with different judo venues.
"Our business model, when you walk in, you don't know if it's an online gaming place. Because when you walk in, there's a receptionist, there's a security guard, it's really like a hotel," he said.
As a marketer, his job is to invite Indonesians to play to judo on its website. The company, he said, already has a database of Indonesians.
