Japanese researchers have managed to act on a gene that blocks the natural regrowth of teeth. A clinical trial will begin on around thirty adult volunteers who are missing a molar.

Implants and other dental prostheses will soon become obsolete! At least that's what researchers at Kitano Hospital in Osaka (Japan) claim. They think they've found a way to make teeth grow back in humans. And to prove it, they're launching a first clinical trial this fall. Their strategy? Deactivate a gene that normally blocks this natural regrowth. To achieve this, they've developed a molecule as part of their start-up, Toregem Biopharma.
