Trump feels 'great' ahead of new medical visit

October 10, 2025

Donald Trump, 79, said Thursday he felt "in great shape" on the eve of a medical check-up, his second since returning to the White House in January.

Referring to his planned visit on Friday to Walter Reed military hospital near Washington, the US president said: "I'm going to meet with the military and I'm going to have a sort of semi-annual medical check-up."

The White House had already announced on Wednesday a "routine annual medical check-up", following the one already undergone in April by the Republican leader, during which his doctor judged him to be in excellent health.

"I believe I am in great shape, I will keep you posted. But I have not had any difficulties so far," he continued, in response to a question posed while receiving Finnish President Alexander Stubb in the Oval Office.

"I feel very good physically. I feel very good mentally," he added.

Donald Trump, the oldest president ever sworn in in the United States, is not immune to questions and speculation about his health, although they are far from reaching the intensity of those asked about his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden.

The billionaire was seen with bruises on his right hand. Recent photos show him with a thick layer of makeup on that area.

The White House had stated in July that these bruises were due to "frequent handshakes" and his taking aspirin as a standard cardiovascular treatment.

The US executive branch had also revealed that Donald Trump suffered from chronic venous insufficiency, a widespread and benign condition, manifesting in his case in particular by swelling in the ankles.
