The immune cell population changes in people of very advanced age, probably to slow down aging and better protect them against cancer.

Supercentenarians are people over 110 years old.

Supercentenarians, that is, people over 110 years old, remain rare in society.

How do some people manage to live over 110 years? Even though the number of centenarians continues to increase, becoming a supercentenarian—that is, exceeding 110 years and reaching the most extreme ages known to humankind (the record for which is...)—remains a remarkable feat. 122Several recent studies suggest that the body adapts to be able to last so long, for example by... protecting against inflammation. This adaptation to old age would also occur at the immune level, according to a study published on August 19, 2026 in Cell Reports by researchers from Japanese universities Osaka and Keio. An optimization that would allow supercentenarians to better cope with the most significant challenges of this age.
