If alcohol and tobacco were to disappear from our daily lives, it would first and foremost be a genuine cultural shock, particularly in France where socializing is closely linked to gastronomy and the "cigarette break." The nightlife scene would be severely affected. The tobacco industry, with its 80,000 jobs, would be left behind, while the country's 142,000 winegrowers would be plunged into a profound crisis.
